This itinerary of Assam and Meghalaya will give you the opportunity to explore the unique culture and natural beauty of these two states. You will get a chance to visit popular tourist destinations such as Kaziranga National Park, Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki and Kamakhya temple. The best time to visit Assam and Meghalaya is from November to May when the weather is pleasant, and the monsoon season is over.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Guwahati

Arrival in Guwahati Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest for a while before heading out to explore the city. In the evening, you can visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most revered shrines. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 2

Guwahati - Shillong (100 km/2.5 hours)

After breakfast, drive to Shillong, also known as the ‘Scotland of the East’. On the way, visit Umiam Lake, a beautiful man-made lake surrounded by hills. Upon arrival in Shillong, check in at the hotel and spend the evening exploring the local markets. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 3

Shillong - Cherrapunjee (55 km/1.5 hours)

After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee, which is known for its breathtaking waterfalls, limestone caves, and living root bridges. Visit the Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, and Nohkalikai Falls, which is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Later, return to Shillong and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 4

Shillong - Dawki - Mawlynnong - Shillong (190 km/6 hours)

After breakfast, drive to Dawki, a small town on the border of India and Bangladesh. Take a boat ride on the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding hills. Later, drive to Mawlynnong, which is known as Asia’s cleanest village. Visit the Living Root Bridge and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Later, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.
Day 5

Shillong - Kaziranga National Park (270 km/6 hours)

After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga National Park, which is famous for its one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, elephants, and other wildlife. Upon arrival, check in at the resort and relax for a while. In the evening, visit a nearby village to get a glimpse of the local way of life. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 6

Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park Early morning, embark on a thrilling elephant safari to explore the park and spot some wildlife. After breakfast, enjoy a jeep safari to explore the park further. Later, visit the nearby tea gardens to learn about the tea-making process and enjoy a cup of Assam tea. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 7

Kaziranga National Park - Guwahati (240 km/5 hours)

After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati for your onward journey. En route, visit the famous Kamakhya Temple again and take blessings before leaving. Upon arrival in Guwahati, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
